The Stanley Cup is the oldest professional sports trophy in North America. In the 1930–31 NHL season there were 10 teams and they played 44 games each. The teams were Montreal Canadiens, Toronto Maple Leafs, Montreal Maroons, New York Americans, Ottawa Senators, Boston Bruins, Chicago Black Hawks, New York Rangers, Detroit Falcons (renamed Red Wings later) and the Philadelphia Quakers. The Montreal Canadiens beat the Chicago Black Hawks three games to two in a best-of-five Stanley Cup final for their second Cup win in a row.
