For years, Canada has been a dominant force in the world of women's hockey but collectors have rarely been given a chance to obtain trading cards of the world's best. In The Game announced the Going For Gold concept at the Spring Expo in Toronto, May 2006 and since that date collectors everywhere have been buzzing about it.
"We are proud to put together the Going For Gold product as our company has always strived to offer collectors new and exciting concepts," said In The Game President Dr. Brian H. Price. "The 2006 Canadian Women's Hockey Team was loaded with talented players and recognition for their accomplishments by the trading card hobby is long overdue."
The 25-card base set features the members of the Gold medal-winning Canadian Women's Hockey Team as well as retired greats such as Stacey Wilson and France St-Louis. Each player card features an action shot on the front along with statistics and a portrait shot on the back.
Each boxed set will also contain either an Autograph card OR a Game-Used Memorabilia card. These cards are highly sought-after by fans everywhere and this product marks the first time that a hockey card release will contain pieces of Canadian Women's Hockey Team jerseys.
